Brandon Sheppard Scores Top-Five Finishes in Pittsburgher at PPMS
Preparations Begin for Dirt Track World Championship
SHINNSTON, W.Va. (10/06/25) – Brandon Sheppard carried his strong late-season momentum into the weekend, collecting a pair of top-five finishes in the 37th annual Pittsburgher at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
The New Berlin, Illinois, native piloted the Rocket1 Racing / Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Super Late Model to a second-place finish on Friday, followed by a fifth-place effort in Saturday’s $50,000-to-win finale.
“We were definitely trying some things for the long-run race tomorrow night,” said Sheppard after Friday’s preliminary feature. “I felt like I was getting better in the longer runs we had, but we didn’t get many long runs in, so we’ll be ready tomorrow. We definitely need to fine-tune this a little bit, but all in all, the longer we went, the better we did. So with a longer race, we will be really good.”
Sheppard’s performance on Friday evening was highlighted by a late-race charge in the closing laps of the opener. After winning his heat race over Carson Ferguson, he ran third for much of the main event before overtaking second place with just three laps to go, joining winner Devin Moran and third-place finisher Max Blair on the podium.
On Saturday, Sheppard clocked a 17.497-second lap in time trials to earn Allstar Performance Time Trials honors. He followed that up with a heat race victory and secured a fifth-place finish in the 70-lap feature.
Also representing Rocket1 Racing over the weekend was five-time national champion Josh Richards. After finishing 17th in Friday’s race, Richards bounced back with a ninth-place finish on Saturday. The veteran is a two-time Pittsburgher winner, with victories in 2007 and 2016.
With the Pittsburgher complete, Sheppard remains fifth in the current LOLMDS championship standings.
