Fourth-place finish in Castrol FloRacing Night in America opener at Eldora

Rocket 1 Racing and Brandon Sheppard made a trip to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Tuesday afternoon to compete in the tour opener for the Castrol FloRacing Night in America. With an impressive field of 49 Late Models entered for the $22,022 top prize, Sheppard timed in fourth-fastest in his group before capturing a heat race win. With recent rain creating rough track conditions, Brandon ran fourth in the 30-lapper, trailing Kyle Larson, Jonathan Davenport, and Brandon Overton to the checkers with Ricky Thornton Jr. coming in fifth. For the second round of the 13-race miniseries on Wednesday at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.), Brandon secured his spot into the $22,022-to-win A-Main with an eight-lap heat race victory over Hudson O’Neal and Kyle Larson. Starting the feature in fourth, Sheppard lost three spots in the 50-lap affair to finish seventh.

With the first two events complete, Brandon is fourth in the Castrol FloRacing Night in America point standings.
