McCreadie races to fifth in Port Royal's Rumble by the River

Tim McCreadie battled through weekend adversity to record a fifth-place finish in Saturday night’s Rumble by the River finale at Port Royal Speedway with his Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Rocket1 Racing / Ace Metal Works / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Mechanical issues while leading Friday night’s feature sidelined McCreadie early. On Saturday night the New York native bounced back to race from the 10th-starting spot to finish fifth in the $50,000-to-win finale.

“We had a lot of speed all weekend, but just seemed to keep finding ourselves behind the eight ball, one way or the other. On Friday night we were leading and had a great car, but had a mechanical issue take us out. Then Saturday night I caught the wall in qualifying and ended up starting further back in the feature then I needed to, and probably used my tires up a bit coming up through there,” McCreadie said. “It’s tough that our results didn’t show what we were capable of, but we’ll head down the road to the next two races and focus on hitting on all cylinders.”

Rocket1 Racing and Tim McCreadie joined a stout field of 48 Super Late Models at Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.) on Wednesday afternoon for the fourth round of the Castrol FloRacing Night in America miniseries.

With a third-place heat finish placing him on the seventh row for the $20,000-to-win A-Main, McCreadie lost ground in the early in the 40-lapper before clawing back to a 14th-place finish at the checkers.

For the opening round of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Rumble by the River on Friday at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway, Tim followed up the overall fast time honors in qualifying with a heat race triumph. Gunning for a $10,000 preliminary payday in the feature, McCreadie surrendered the lead on the fifth lap after experiencing mechanical issues, ending his night.

Back at the half-mile oval on Saturday, McCreadie laid down the eighth-fastest time in his 25-car group before placing second in his heat race. Starting the $50,000-to-win Rumble by the River finale in 10th, Tim climbed five positions in the 50-lap affair to register a fifth-place finish. He chased Jonathan Davenport, Ricky Thornton Jr., Max Blair, and Devin Moran to the checkers.

Tim is currently fifth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) action for Rocket1 Racing continues this week on Saturday and Sunday. On August 31 a $15,000 winner’s check is on the line at Portsmouth (Ohio) Raceway Park during the River Days Rumble, while September 1 finds Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, W.Va.) hosting the 56th annual Hillbilly Hundred, which posts a $30,000 winner’s check.
