SHINNSTON, WV– July 10, 2018– Brandon Sheppard collected his eighth World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series victory of the season at Black Hills Speedway on Tuesday evening in the Valvoline Seubert Calf Ranches Rocket Chassis XR1 #Rocket1, The Rocket1 Racing team continued their recent hot streak at the Series most western stop of the 2018 season.
The defending World of Outlaws Championship team has collected three wins of the Series' last four events: Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 on June 30, Dubuque Speedway on Friday, July 6, and Black Hills Speedway on July 10. The one event he didn’t win, Sheppard collected a fourth-place finish.
“We’re just trying to win races now,” said President of Rocket Chassis Mark Richards. “We’ve had some bad finishes here that’s cost us and put us where we are. If we could wipe away three or four [poor finishes] we’d feel a lot better, but it is what it is, so now it’s just go for wins.”
Sheppard and his Rocket1 Racing team currently sit third in the point standings but just 34 points shy of a tie for first place.
“I’m sure it will [come down to World Finals],” continued Richards. “As tight as it is right now, it’s not a runaway for anybody. So, it’s going to be a tough race the rest of the way.”
July 13th at River Cities Speedway, Sheppard timed in 3rd fastest over all. He won heat #3 and started 3rd in the Sears Craftsman 50 lap A-Main. Brandon advanced one spot in the A-Main to finish in 2nd place.
The following night Rocket1 Racing competed with the Outlaws at Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, MN. Brandon was one position away from having a perfect night. He started the night off by setting fast time by nearly three tenths faster than 2nd place. Sheppard won the first heat from the pole and started third in the Sears Craftsman 50 lap A-main. Again, B-Shepp advanced one spot during the 50 lap A-main to finish in 2nd place.
Brandon has finished in either first or second place in 6 of the last 7 World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series races.
