Brandon Sheppard and Rocket1 Racing End Speedweeks with 4 Consecutive Outlaws Event Wins and the 2019 DIRTcar Nationals Championship

February 21, 2019

Shinnston, WV - February, 18  2019 – Brandon Sheppard and Rocket1 Racing started their 2019 Georgia/Florida speedweeks with six top-5 finishes before the team won a record setting four World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series DIRTcar Nationals events in a row at Volusia Speedway Park and the 2019 DIRTcar Nationals championship.

The Valvoline/Seubert Calf Ranches/Rocket Chassis XR1 #Rocket1 2019 campaign started with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) February 1st and 2nd at Golden Isles Speedway. Sheppard finished 5th place in both events held on February 2nd. (The February 1st event was rain delayed to February 2nd.)

Eastbay Raceway Park was the site of the next three LOLMDS events (Feb. 2nd—6th) where Brandon recorded three straight top five finishes of 3rd (February 2nd), 4th (February 3rd),  and 5th (February 4th).

After the three events at Eastbay, the Rocket1 team started their 2019 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series title chase at Screven Motorsports Complex with a 6th place finish on February 8th and a 4th place finish on February 9th.

The team spent February 11th – 16th at Volusia Speedway Park (VSP), the final track of speedweeks. In the first event on February 11th, Sheppard finished 11th. February 12th’s race was a casualty of rain and cancelled. In the following four races at VSP, Brandon Sheppard and Rocket1 Racing reset the record books.

Each February, gator trophies are awarded to the winners of the DIRTcar Nationals events at Volusia Speedway Park. A highly coveted and much larger gator trophy is awarded to the driver who earns the most points during the DIRTcar Nationals and is crowned the DIRTcar Nationals Late Model championship.

The Big Gator trophy and its family of four are heading back to Rocket Chassis in West Virginia as Brandon Sheppard pulled off the unthinkable on Saturday night, winning the 2019 DIRTcar Nationals Late Model championship by completing the four-race sweep of all World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series events at Volusia Speedway Park.

With these victories, Sheppard now holds a DIRTcar Nationals Late Model record as the only driver to win four races in a row in the event’s history. He’s also the first driver to win four World of Outlaws races in a row since 2009.

“It’s another accomplishment that we’ve added to the list as a team,” said Sheppard, a third-generation racer from New Berlin, IL. “Our team is phenomenal, and they deserve every bit of the success that we have.”

Speaking about his new DIRTcar Nationals record, Sheppard continued, “To be the first driver in history to do that, it means the world to me, especially. And I know it means the world to my guys because they work their tails off, and they expect nothing less than a win.”
